Our Story

Beginnings
Malolos Christ Reformed Church (MCRC), formerly Malolos Reformed Church (MRC), was formed in 2015 by believers who were concerned primarily about the biblical church government and ethics of their previous church. Most of the believers that left their former church were pastors and leaders - admittedly new in the Reformed faith. They sought to be faithful followers of the Word - united by the creeds of the early church, doctrines of 16th century Protestant Christianity, and profession of the Reformed confessions.
MRC first gathered at the house of Ventura Family at Mars St. Kabyawan Malolos, Bulacan. And started as a provisional (probationary) church 22nd of March 2015 under the supervision of Ptr. Glem Melo with fifteen people who attended the first public worship.
MRC provisional elders Harry Guerrero, Ritchel Jamilla and Daniel Villaruel started a sermon reading of Rev. Kim Riddlebarger’s series on the Gospel of Mark for the Lord’s Day sermon, then Epistle to the Galatians and 1 Corinthians (via www.theseed.info). By the end of the year, Harry Guerrero left MRC and became a missionary in Palawan.
MRC also began to study the Westminster Confession of Faith for the Sunday School Class using AA Hodge, GI Williamson and Robert Shaw’s commentaries as references. The Sunday School teacher for Kids continued to teach the Gospel Project curriculum from Lifeway. Elders also agreed to conduct regular house-to-house family catechism using GI Williamson’s book on Westminster Shorter Catechism.
August of 2015, the members met to agree with a vision and mission for the church as follows:
Vision: We, the Malolos Reformed Church, are committed in keeping the confessions of the Reformed Faith, cultivating a covenant community, reaching people to Christ through the Gospel, and making His glory known in our lives.
Mission: We, the Malolos Reformed Church, are engaged in establishing our local congregation, in its physical and organizational aspect, and are committed in a passionate and systematized sharing and witnessing of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Most of the members, on its first year, were engaged at regular campus evangelism at Bulacan State University and Bulacan Capitol Park.
On March 12, 2016, Phil De Hart from PCA together with Ptr. Glem conducted a seminar at MRC. The members also conducted dawn watch prayer gatherings once a month along with weekly prayer gatherings.
On September 07, 2016 Malolos Reformed Church was registered to Security and Exchange Commission and was changed to Malolos Christ Reformed Church due to an overlap in church name with another church. The name was also decided following the church of Rev. Kim Riddlebarger which is the Christ Reformed Church in Anaheim, California, that although there is no direct connection with Rev. Riddlebarger, it was his sermons that helped the church in Malolos to strive from its root.
On October 2016, MRC provisional elders made contact with Zion Cornerstone Reformed Church (ZCRC)- Pasig. Pastor Paulo Vasquez administered the Lord’s Supper and preached at MRC for several months that lead to our decision to be adopted by the ZCRC Churches.
On March 18, 2017 Bro. Ritchel and Bro. Daniel met with pastors, elders and deacons of ZCRC Pasig and Imus regarding the initiative of MRC to join the ZCRC federation. The training of elders and deacons and teaching of basic beliefs of ZCRC was proposed. Pas. Paulo Vasquez and Pas. Lance Filio was assigned to alternately teach the Inquirer's Class and deliver sermons.
On June 04, 2017, Pas. Lance Filio started the first Inquirer's Class with 25 adult students.
On November 19, 2017, profession of faith was held in which 25 people professed their faith and became members of MCRC. And established formally as a Reformed church belonging to the federation of Zion Cornerstone Reformed Churches. Together with ZCRC Pasig and Imus.
On February 08, 2018, the ordination of Elders and Deacons was held, making Elder Ritchel Jamilla, Elder Daniel Villaruel, Deacon Roberto Vasquez, and Deacon Michael Guballa official council of MCRC. To date, the church is still praying for the assignment of a pastor. Every last week of the month, Pas. Paulo Vasquez and Pas. Lance Filio alternately administer the Lord's Supper and deliver the sermon.
As we look forward to the future, we praise God for his faithfulness in building up the church through “the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, the breaking of bread, and the prayers.” If the Lord wills, we plan to move to a more affordable place, have morning and evening services with catechism classes and fellowship in between, and invite the surrounding community to a new midweek Bible study. Our desire is to disciple the members of MCRC into mature Christians, and proclaim the true gospel to “inquirers” who visit us.
